At home, Greg’s mother has started a “Mom Bucks” system, where she rewards him for good behavior with fake money that he can use to buy privilages. However, after cashing in his Mom Bucks for a jawbreaker, he accidentally swallows it and has to go to the hospital to have it removed.
To make matters worse, Rodrick finds out about the Mom Bucks and starts blackmailing Greg into doing his chores for him. In retaliation, Greg puts random items in Rodrick’s rock band’s equipment bag in an attempt to get him in trouble with their manager. This backfires when Rodrick manages to convince their manager that it was Greg who did it. As punishment, Greg is made to play one of Rodrick’s songs onstage with him at one of their concerts.
In the end, the two brothers reconcile and agree to work together to give their mother the best Mother’s Day present ever.
