In the third book of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, The Last Straw, Greg Heffley is determined to make his mark on school history. But when Greg’s dad threatens to send him to military school if he doesn’t straighten up, Greg finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. With his friends forsaking him and his social status on the line, will Greg be able to turn things around before it’s too late?

The main character in Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3: The Last Straw is Greg Heffley. He’s a wimpy kid who is trying to survive middle school. Other important characters in the book include:

-Rodrick Heffley: Greg’s older brother. He’s a bully who likes to make Greg’s life miserable.
-Mom and Dad: Greg’s parents. They love their kids, but they don’t always understand them.
-Mr. Harrison: Greg’s science teacher. He’s a bit odd, but he’s also one of the few adults that Greg can talk to.
-Susie Derkins: A girl in Greg’s class. She’s kind of weird, but Greg has a crush on her.

The Last Straw is set in the town of Greg’s hometown, Westport, Massachusetts. The Heffleys are shown to live in a cul-de-sac on the outskirts of town. In the beginning of the book, it is wintertime and Greg is forced to go sledding with his father on Sunday mornings, much to his dismay.

One of the themes in Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 3 is perseverance. Throughout the book, Greg Heffley faces many challenges and obstacles, but he perseveres through them all. Another theme in the book is family. Family is very important to Greg and he always tries to do what’s best for them, even if it means making sacrifices.

In the end, it all worked out for the best. Greg got his wish of having a family vacation, even though it wasn’t exactly what he had in mind. And now that he’s faced his fears and overcome his challenges, he’s a better person for it.

This was a really enjoyable book and I’m glad I read it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes books that are funny and well-written.
