The new Wimpy Kid book is released
The ninth book in the series, The Long Haul, was released in 2014. Jeff Kinney announced on his website that he is working on the tenth book. In February 2015, it was announced that the Wimpy Kid movie franchise would be produced by 20th Century Fox.
Why the Wimpy Kid series is popular
The Wimpy Kid series is popular because of its relatable characters, humor, and simple illustrations. The books follow the life of Greg Heffley, a middle school student who is trying to navigate his way through the ups and downs of adolescence. Greg is often embarrassed by his family and friends, and he doesn’t always make the best choices, but readers can’t help but root for him.
Since the first book was published in 2007, the series has become one of the most successful children’s book franchises of all time. Over 150 million copies have been sold worldwide, and the books have been translated into more than 50 languages. The series shows no signs of slowing down – a new movie adaptation of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul was released in 2017, and author Jeff Kinney is hard at work on the next Wimpy Kid book.
What the new book is about
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway is the 12th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The book was released on November 7, 2017.
The book is about Greg Heffley and his family going on a vacation to a resort in Florida, but things don’t go as planned.
This is the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book to be set outside of the United States.
How the new book is different from the previous ones
The newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book is here, and it’s different than the others in a few ways. First off, it’s got a brand new look—the cover is yellow and black, and Greg Heffley himself is looking off to the side instead of directly at the reader.
But more importantly, the new book is longer than the previous ones. It clocks in at 320 pages, which makes it nearly 50 pages longer than the last Wimpy Kid book.
There’s also a new format: The first half of the book is told entirely in cartoons, while the second half features live-action photographs that bring the story to life.
Based on the early reviews, it looks like fans will love the new book. So if you haven’t picked up a copy yet, what are you waiting for?
